Necia’s Insights and Inspirations: September 25’ Edition

September is recognized nationally as:

  • Self-Improvement Month

  • Recovery Month

  • Preparedness Month

  • Back-to-School Season

These align with our mission of growth, readiness, and creating opportunities for new beginnings.

Necia’s Insights & Inspirations

This past year has taught me so much about seasons. Some seasons are about planting, some are about waiting, and others are about harvesting. September, for me, feels like a season of preparation — setting things in order for the bigger things ahead.

I’ll be honest — there were times when I wanted everything to move faster. I wanted the funding approved yesterday, the housing project launched already, and the profits to show up immediately. But I’ve learned that rushing the process often leads to frustration, while trusting the process builds character.

The truth is that growth isn’t always glamorous. Sometimes it means working behind the scenes, investing time and money you won’t immediately see back, and staying consistent even when the results feel far away. But every bit of discipline, every late night, and every sacrifice is a brick in the foundation of what you’re building.

So, as we step into September — a month known for renewal and self-improvement — I encourage you to pause and ask:

What am I preparing for? What seeds am I planting now that my future self will thank me for?

Announcements

E-Books Launching October 2025

Beginning October 2025, my new collection of e-books will be available! Topics include Airbnb hosting, transitional housing, nonprofit startup, grant readiness, property investments, second chance housing, and faith & strategy. These resources are designed to help you grow in business, faith, and leadership.

Jones Community Development Foundation

The Jones Community Development Foundation was born out of my belief that housing is more than shelter — it’s the foundation for rebuilding lives and strengthening communities. Our mission is centered on affordable housing, economic empowerment, and community development.

Transitional Housing Expansion

One of the biggest gaps I’ve seen in real estate is the number of properties sitting vacant while people in our own neighborhoods struggle to find safe, stable housing. It doesn’t just affect individuals — it affects entire communities. Vacant homes drive down property values, attract crime, and send the wrong message about what our neighborhoods can be.

That’s why Jones Second Chance Housing, under the Foundation, is preparing to open its first transitional housing location in Elkton, MD in January 2026.

This program isn’t just about providing a roof — it’s about creating a structured environment where men reentering society and individuals in need of a second chance can rebuild their lives. It’s about turning neglected spaces into thriving ones and showing what happens when you invest in people as much as you invest in property.

The Impact

For individuals: stability, dignity, and a real path forward.

For families: a chance to reunite, heal, and grow.

For communities: fewer vacant properties, stronger property values, and safer neighborhoods.

How You Can Get Involved?

Applicants: If you or someone you know needs transitional housing, please complete the housing Application Form

Service Providers: If your organization offers supportive services (counseling, job training, mentoring, etc.), we invite you to Register as a Partner to collaborate with us in serving residents.

Necia’s Financial Literacy Series

September Focus:

Budgeting by Category

When I first started out, I used Excel sheets to track everything — income, expenses, and budgets. It was simple, effective, and it worked for that season of my life. But as my vision expanded and I found myself managing three businesses, I realized that what once worked was no longer enough.

Now I’m transitioning into QuickBooks. It’s not because Excel doesn’t work — it absolutely does — but QuickBooks allows me to keep things more organized across multiple businesses. It automates what used to take me hours, gives me reports at the click of a button, and helps me stay ahead for tax season.

But here’s the reality most people don’t talk about:

  • The money you make in business doesn’t all feel like “your money.” Most of it has to go right back into expenses, operations, or reinvestments.

  • Cash flow is king. If you don’t know where your dollars are going, your business will control you instead of you controlling it.

  • Patience is required. Building wealth takes time — and a lot of discipline. Some months you’ll wonder where the profit is, but consistency and smart financial habits pay off in the long run.

Pro Tip from my journey:

Treat your business like a corporation from day one, even if it’s small. The habits you build now — separating accounts, budgeting by category, reinvesting wisely — will set the stage for long-term financial success.

I’ll be sharing even more tools, strategies, and personal lessons in my upcoming e-books launching October 2025, including Property Hustle and Grant Readiness. These resources dive deeper into the financial realities of growing a business, building creditability, and positioning yourself for long-term wealth.
